IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to  develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

 

                                   PLANNER ENGINEER - (REF: MR-001736)

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent
  • Mechanical or Electrical Artisan Trade Certificate [S26] or National Diploma / Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Supervisory Development Program [preferred]
  • Proficient in computerized maintenance systems 
  • Proficient in MS Office [Excel, Word, MS Projects]
  • Ability to read and understand OEM specifications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a customer service orientation
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills
  • Analytical, solution and deadline focused
  • Attentive to detail with ability to focus on and juggle different tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills

 

 

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience as an artisan or in an Assistant Engineering Planner role on a mine or in a factory
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Foreman (advantageous)
  • Experience in an underground / surface mining environment / in a vertical shaft section particularly in an earth moving equipment
  • Experience in developing reports and analysing data obtained from equipment will be advantageous

 

 The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  • Effective scheduling and monitoring of specific project equipment, manage backlog and labour limitations / constraints
  • Determine skills, materials and resource requirements timeously and allocate to tasks following consultation with supervisor
  • Develop and maintain the site maintenance schedules, analyse data from the computerised management maintenance systems and identify trends and areas of improvement
  • Initiate procurement of spares and consumables to ensure availability
  • Liaise with the maintenance systems manager to on-board new machinery and provide site performance information
  • Identify and flag relevant legal requirements
  • Create job cards, with job safety analysis, in advance to ensure timeous availability of materials, skills and resources
  • Prompt identification of recurring defects and inefficiencies, flag, analyse and assist with close-out thereof
  • Engage with cross-functional teams, suppliers / OEM to obtain information that informs planning
  • Provide feedback and input to the site engineering team and procurement department at weekly planning meetings
  • Comply with legal regulations, M&RC and Client’s standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols
  • Effective self-management and alignment with M&RC’s values and leadership initiatives
  • Team supervision is site specific, consult with engineering management prior to advertising, incorporate hereunder accordingly if supervisory function is required
  • Effective daily supervision of the engineering planning team
  • Team and self - understand and comply with legal regulations, M&RC and Client’s standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols
  • Effective team and self-management in alignment with M&RC’s values and leadership initiatives
