VACANCY
IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.
SURVEYOR ASSISTANT X8 REF: IVP-MTS-2613
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
· Grade 12 (Mathematics and Physical Science)
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work effectively within a team environment
· Good attention to detail and accuracy
· Physically fit and medically fit to work underground
· Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a mining environment
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
· Minimum 2 years' experience in an underground mining environment
· Exposure to mine surveying activities and survey fieldwork
· Experience assisting with survey measurements, line marking and grade installations will be advantageous
· Basic understanding of survey equipment and accessories
· Experience working in a mechanised mining environment will be advantageous
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
· Assisting Surveyors with underground and surface survey measurements, observations and data collection activities
· Assisting with the installation and maintenance of survey stations, control points, lines and grades
· Supporting line marking, grade installation and grade extension activities to enable mining operations
· Assisting with workplace scanning, cavity monitoring surveys and point cloud data acquisition activities
· Transporting, setting up, cleaning and maintaining survey equipment, accessories and consumables
· Recording field observations and maintaining survey records and equipment registers
· Participating in daily safety meetings, workplace inspections and risk assessments
· Identifying and reporting unsafe conditions and maintaining good housekeeping standards
· Complying with all Mine Health and Safety Act requirements, company standards and operational procedures
· Participating in training, coaching and development initiatives to improve survey knowledge and technical skills
