IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project.

          Section Engineer X 1 REF: IVP-ENG-2506

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

·    GCC Mines and Works – Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Essential)

·    BEng / BTech / National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

·    Minimum 5 years’ experience in a mechanised underground mining environment

·    Proven track record managing engineering and maintenance functions for TMM fleets

·    Strong working knowledge of MHSA, TMM Regulations, and digital maintenance platforms (e.g. Pragma, SAP)

·    Advanced computer literacy (MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

·     Fulfil the legal 2.13.3.11 appointment for the engineering function of the mining operation

·     Ensure optimal availability, performance, and legal compliance of all TMM assets

·     Lead the execution of maintenance strategies (preventive, predictive, condition-based)

·     Develop and implement reliability programmes and performance monitoring systems

·     Manage engineering capital projects and shutdowns

·     Drive compliance to all MHSA and internal engineering standards

·     Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team

·     Engage with OEMs and service providers to optimise asset life-cycle management

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

·       Adherence and enforce all safety protocols for safe working environment.

·       Have extensive knowledge and experience to operate and maintain drill rigs.

·       Work closely with all stakeholders for integration of drill rig operations within the mine.

·       Perform routine maintenance and repairs on drill rig equipment to ensure optimal performance.

·       Identify and troubleshoot issues related to drill rig operations, implementing effective solutions.

·       Provide training and guidance to junior staff on drill rig operations and safety procedures.

·       Maintain records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and operational activities.
