IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to  develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

PECKER OPERTOR REF: IVP-ENG-2615

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

·       Grade 12

·       Valid certificate of fitness

·       Valid driver’s license (if applicable)

·       Certificate of competence for operating a fixed hydraulic jackhammer(pecker)

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

·       2-3 years’ experience as tip attendant/ conveyor and belt attendant

    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

·       Utilise the fixed hydraulic jackhammer(pecker) to break large rocks that were delivered/ dumped onto the metal tipping and transfer grids

·       Clear obstructions on the metal grid transfer and tipping points by utilising the fixed hydraulic jackhammer(pecker) to keep an unobstructed flow of broken ore onto the conveyor system

·       Direct Load Haul and Dump machines (LHD’s) to tip, dump the content of the buckets onto the metal grids

·       Keep tip area clean of obstructions that inhibits the LHD machines to deliver their load onto the metal grid

·       Performs general maintenance and construction work when called upon by the supervisor that relates to the use and operation of the fixed hydraulic jackhammer(pecker)

·       Although the role of the operator will be operating the fixed hydraulic jackhammer(pecker), if the jackhammer is undergoing repairs or maintenance, the operator will use manual interventions
