IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future.”
INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME (REF: IVP-HRD-2502)
The above opportunity exists within the Mine Technical space where qualified candidates with relevant Degrees will be awarded an opportunity to be on formal internship programme. The Programme will cover qualifications speciality acquiring the skills in the following disciplines, relevant to Ivanplats Mine of the following: Minimum NQF Level 7
· Mining Engineering Degree
· Geology/ Geotechnical Engineering Degree
· Mine Survey Degree
· Civil Engineering Degree
Duration and Conditions:
· The successful candidates will be enrolled in an internship programme for a maximum of 2 Years depending on the applicant performance.
· Candidates must be prepared to work underground and on surface, in all mining operations.
· Must pass all the relevant medical fitness examination.
· Basic Mining experience and Strata Control will add as an advantage.
· Must not have graduated prior to the Year 2022.
· Hard Rock Underground Blasting Ticket (Advantageous)
The following must be attached to all applications:
· CV, certified copies of qualifications, Grade 12 Final results/ certificate, academic records, and a copy of the degree.
· South African Identity document.
· Applicants must be in a position of a Degree (Minimum NQF Level 7) from any of the South African recognized tertiary institutions.
· Must reside around recognized mining communities.
· Letter from the tribal Authority/ward councillor where you reside confirming your residence.
Key Result Areas/Essential Functions:
· Participating in training and mentoring programmes as part of the Minerals Council of SA Rock Mechanics Certification Pathway.
· Conducting routine underground inspections and mapping of structural features.
· Collecting and analysing geotechnical data (e.g. RQD, joint sets, ground conditions).
· Assisting in auditing and optimisation of support systems (e.g. bolts, mesh, shotcrete).
· Monitoring ground behaviour using instrumentation.
· Supporting the Rock Engineering department with the reporting of geotechnical risks.
· Ensuring compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA).
