IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to  develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

                                   INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN X 1 REF: (IVP-ENG- 2503)

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

·       Grade 12,

·       National Diploma Electrical or Instrumentation engineering or related qualification.

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

·       Minimum 5 years’ post qualification experience with process control instrumentation in a

mining environment preferably in a mine or process plant environment.

·       Experience with DCS and various plant PLC’s and drives.

·       Sound knowledge and experience on ABB DCS and PLC’s programming.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

·       Ensure the achievement of budgeted maintenance targets by practising preventative maintenance through scheduled inspections, servicing, adjustments, troubleshooting and timely repair of plant equipment.

·       Commissioning of instrument and control system.

·       Carry out preventative maintenance, installation and repair activities on instrumentation systems as required.

·       Troubleshoot, repair, and conduct periodic calibration of instruments on a wide range of equipment including analysers, PLC and process control equipment, communication networks, data logging equipment and field monitoring equipment.

·       Repair and maintain control gear, instrumentation and equipment. Perform root cause analysis and deal with SLAs.

·       Identify deviations or non-conformance, plan and implement corrective actions to ensure attainment of production plan.

·       Identify recurring problems and derive creative solutions involving team members.

·       Maintain, install, programming and do diagnostics and repair instrumentation equipment and power supply units and lines per planned maintenance and break down orders.

·       Plan, implement, control and monitor approved changes to area of responsibility to respond to changes in the industry, legislation and other related matters including transformation and optimisation.

·       Communication with stakeholders to inform on work progress and condition of equipment.
