INTERNAL/EXTERNAL VACANCY

 

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to  develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

 

                                    ENGINEERING SHAFT FOREMAN X 1 REF: (IVP-ENG- 2434)

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

·       Grade 12

·        Blasting Certificate

·       National Certificate: Generic Management Level 3

·       Valid drivers’ license (EB)

 

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

·       5 years’ experience as a Miner in a Shaft environment

·       Previous Shaft Foreman experience – an advantage

 

     The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

·       Conduct Shaft Examinations

·       Analyse breakdowns of previous shift at the beginning of each shift by evaluating previous corrective measures and allocate resources accordingly.

·       Communicate equipment information and changes to relevant stakeholder to minimize production delays.

·       Analyse equipment efficiencies to recommend or implement improvements and changes to maximise equipment utilisation.

·       Control the magazines, including handling, controlling, receiving and issuing explosives.

·       Co-ordinate and monitor equipment availability to ensure adherence to production parameters.

·       Ensure the availability of approved mining layouts and production plans.

·       Over-inspect subordinates in their daily activities to ensure maintenance according to organisational standards and the maintenance requirements.

·       Responsible for maintaining water columns, diesel columns, ventilation ducting and fans.

·       Required to work overtime, do standby and be available for callouts should the need arise.

·       Communicate planned activities and relevant schedule to all relevant stakeholders (e.g. formal and informal meetings, communication book, one-on-one interactions

·       Identify production material needed on daily, weekly, monthly basis and follow necessary procedures to order/source material for timeous distribution.

·       Anticipate potential problems with production and plan preventative measures.

·       Resolve production related deviations/problems.
